Innovation and well-being in a single facility
A livestock facility designed for animal comfort and operational efficiency.
The Soc. Agricola Bonfanti Andrea e Figli (in the province of Lodi) is an example of cutting-edge livestock farming, designed to house 600 cows during the lactation stage. It combines innovative solutions for animal welfare with optimal management of activities, ensuring maximum efficiency and sustainability.
STRUCTURE AND ANIMAL WELFARE
With a width of 34 meters and a length of 200 meters, the barn offers a functional layout: a central feeding aisle serves two opposing sides equipped with self-locking anti-choking feed racks, which include noise-reducing, wear-resistant, and selective-locking systems. The resting areas feature double rows of opposing cubicles with containment basins, managed with solid material separated post-anaerobic digestion. This solution ensures maximum comfort for the animals, allowing over 12 hours of daily occupancy per head, maintaining an optimal balance between feeding and resting.

MANAGEMENT AND SAFETY
The barn’s layout is designed to optimize animal management. Four distinct groups converge onto a step-free service corridor, reducing the risk of trauma-induced lameness and easing movement toward the milking parlor. Alongside the latter, a dedicated structure for animal treatment has been built, ensuring safety and calm during monitoring and care operations.
TECHNOLOGY AND IDEAL MICROCLIMATE
To ensure optimal conditions in every season, the barn is equipped with motorized filtering and shading closures, integrated with a ventilation and cooling system divided between the feeding and resting areas. This approach creates an ideal microclimate, improving the animals’ well-being and overall productivity.
This barn represents a model for modern livestock farming, where animal comfort and ease of management combine to ensure efficiency, sustainability, and success.
